Honoring the late Talei Morrison and supporting early detection within the Māori community, the Ride for Talei kaupapa aims to raise awareness for cervical and prostate cancer. Led by Te Ururoa Flavell, this campaign combined kapa haka and health to spread the message that early detection can save lives.
The team at Aronui in Rāhui Pōkeka are dedicated to supporting hapū māmā and whānau. Recently, they hosted an empowering Wahakura Wānanga,
providing vital education on safe sleep practices, the use of wahakura all through a kaupapa Māori approach.
Trialling a new way of engaging women about breast screening and their wider health needs. This project is being led by a new team within Hauraki PHO, who contact eligible women through the Thames Hospital and outpatient clinics. The team offers information and support to encourage breast screening and invites women to participate in a Whānau Hauora Assessment to better understand the broader health needs of the patient and their whānau.
